Mt. Everest base camp: rebreathing CO 2 ( top ) and O 2 ( bottom ) plateaux. Obtained after inhalation of a 3-l VT of a 8% CO2-N2 mixture during a moderate cycling exercise. Rapid-responding O2 and CO2 analyzers were used.
